For many centuries, Indigenous cultures throughout North America have told stories about ants and held them in very high regard. Ants may not seem like the most likely animal to inspire creation myths and clan names, but their hardworking and cooperative behavior has been used as a positive social example in indigenous folklore and art for a very long time. This website is designed to introduce you to some of the Native American Folklore surrounding these insects, along with an overview of ant behavior, anatomy and physiology.
